Hon. Mayor Omar ‘Solitario’ Ali

City Mayor

Islamic City of Marawi

Dear Mayor Ali:

Greetings of Peace!

The First Series of Mindanaoan Writers Convention held in Davao City had a theme about child-friendly newspapers. As a participant to this convention, I learned that a budgetary support of the government for the children is needed and is very significant. This financial support will give children an opportunity to be heard and be known in the region.

In this regard, I would like to solicit your sponsorship of a children’s page in our newspaper, the Mindanao Bulletin. Your monthly support of fifteen thousand pesos (P15,000) will not only feature our Muslim children but also your city and province as well. Hence, you can send us some news about your plans, programs, activities and developmental projects you have for dissemination to your constituents as well as to your neighboring cities and provinces.

Our very goal of this project is to help develop a “child-friendly” newspaper in the region. Your philanthropic gesture to this project will greatly contribute to the overall growth and development of our children in Mindanao. After all, children are not only an important sector of our country, but they are also the inheritors of the future.

Very respectfully yours,

Dear Councilor C. Ruiz

Greetings!

As an artist and writer, I am commissioned by the Philippine Press Institute-United Nations Children’s Fund (PPI-UNICEF) to protect and care for the Children in Mindanao, specifically in our community.

A government budgetary support, in this regard, is indeed vital for the success of a children’s media program. To ensure and guarantee the production and dissemination of a children’s media (that is through a column print and children’s art in newspaper), I would like you, therefore, to be my exclusive sponsor for a page in Sangyaw: Iligan City Community Responsible Newspapers, Inc.; is a property of a non-stock, non-government organization (NGO) newspapers publication for thus am the publisher.

The said children’s column would be titled Greenhorns, which means “inexperienced” or “child”. Every month I needed 20t Php for this program.

Please understand that the whole-page column is 12tPhp. Nevertheless, you will be happy to note that, because of the ruling stipulated in PPI and in PD 1079, the amount is lowered to 9t Php/page.

The ultimate goal of this worthwhile project is to help develop a child-friendly newspaper, not only in our city but also in our neighboring communities of which you are concerned. Children are not only important members of our region; they are also only important members of our region; they are also future inheritors of our country.

I hope you won’t fail me and the children in our community in this very special project.

Thank you very much and Godspeed!

Respectfully yours,

Janet S. Braza

PPI Artist
